Mad Dogs and Englishmen

Hoodie pic "proves Cameron point" A hooded teenager pictured making a gun gesture behind David Cameron proves the Tory leader's point about "anti-social behaviour"... The youth, 17-year-old Ryan Florence , is electronically tagged after being in a young offenders' institution. He has said he is in a gang called Benchill Mad Dogs and regularly smokes cannabis and takes cocaine. He told the BBC: "Drugs are everywhere here. I smoke weed every day and all my friends do as well. There's nothing wrong with it as long as you don't get caught." 23 February Gun gesture youth on drug charge A teenager pictured making a gun gesture towards Tory leader David Cameron has been charged with possession of cannabis. A police spokeswoman said: "Police investigating a news broadcast in which a group of young people were shown with weapons and made reference to the use of illegal drugs have charged a 17-year-old boy." The teenager cannot be named bec

Giving up (for lent)

Sod's law states that all the time you don't have access to the internet, you have the greatest need/desire to communicate with people. When you get that access back, you've run out of things to talk about. I don't really feel I have much to say to the world at the moment, probably because I've had quite a fulfilling week. Just as on the day (many moons ago) when I attempted a 24-hour silence I encountered so many situations crying out for a witty or sarcastic remark, the next day seemed quite lame in comparison. Probably because I was no longer the centre of attention (read: object of derision). This lent I've decided to give up chocolate. Not that I eat too much of it anyway, but it's one of the few bad habits that I can give up that has a) the remotest chance of me keeping, and b) quite a high credibility rating. It sounds quite impressive, but isn't too demanding. I even turned down the prospect of a massive bag of Smarties at the cinéma last night (

Dartford 1-2 Fleet

Arrgh, how annoying. Dartford were top of the league coming into this weekend, but only by 2 points because the mid-week game (which would have almost certainly given us a 5-point cushion) was rained off. Losing today means we slip back down to 4th, albeit in a very tight race for the top. On a positive note, crowds at Princes Park were up again, with over 1,600 people there today. Shame they couldn't have seen a better result. Back from the stone age

Apologies, Thunderbozz fans, for the complete lack of updates for the last two-and-a-bit weeks. Unfortunately, my decision to get my laptop's CD drive fixed before the new term started failed to acknowledge the sheer bureaucracy surrounding repairs under warranty. This also explains why I haven't been able to stay in touch with some people: fear not, I haven't forgotten you. Had I spent the last three weeks not doing very much at all, I'm sure being deprived of my computer wouldn't have been so frustrating: of course, that wasn't the case. it's been a pretty manic few days, but the opportunity to write about everything in the detail it deserves has passed. Enjoy, as a result, the last 18 days at break-neck speed: My "birthday treat", Hollywood Bowl played host to an enjoyable evening of ten-pin bowling in the last week of January (once everyone's exams were over). The evening started promisingly, with my first two attempts producing th
