Paris ePrix preview

Round six of the 2017 Formula E season takes place this Saturday around the streets of Paris. The race will mark the official half-way stage of this year's championship. It is also the final "single-race" circuit before three double-header weekends in Berlin, New York and Montreal.

Driver changes

Former Venturi driver Mike Conway will be returning to Formula E for the Paris ePrix. He'll be replacing Loïc Duval at Faraday Future, who has DTM commitments. Conway picked up seven points from seven races last season, having taken Jacques Villeneuve's vacant seat.
The DTM race weekend at the Lausitzring also means Maro Engel is unavailable. Current Formula V8 3.5 champion Tom Dillmann will take his place in the Venturi garage.

Championship battle

Sébastien Buemi's victory in Monaco last weekend keeps him at the top of the drivers' championship. The gap to Lucas di Grassi is only 15 points, thanks to his second-place finish. Although the Renault driver will miss the final four races of the season, he will be determined to take every available point -- especially at his team's home race.
Jean-Éric Vergne was forced to retire last weekend, so he will also be keen to finish strong in front of a home crowd. His two second-step podium finishes this year haven't been enough to keep Techeetah in the hunt for the team's championship. Nevertheless, if he can get past Buemi, finishing first is not an unrealistic aspiration.
